OKS (Oksana Todorova) is a New York-based multimedia artist. In 1993, OKS moved to Manhattan from the USSR, now Ukraine, and has been a New Yorker ever since. Oks has been creating art since childhood, and over time her passion has developed into a multifaceted specialization encompassing pyrography, illustration, ceramics, and site-specific installations. Her extensive, ever-so-growing skillset manifests itself through a variety of mediums and scales, from her penny-sized porcelain miniatures to larger-than-life sculptures. Her creative practice explores themes of power, consumerism, music, sex, human relations, and female roles in modern society. With acerbic wit and a touch of class, she invites the daring and curious to experience how she filters the world.
OKS is the real deal—she produces everything exclusively by hand, with no molds or shortcuts, in the East Village, NYC.
One of her latest solo exhibitions, Have a Nice Day, was held at Isetan in Tokyo in September 2021, featuring an expansive selection of works, including a collaboration with Sanrio Inc. She has also exhibited at The Greenwich House Pottery (GHP) artists' exhibition, where Oks won the GHP Award; at Soccer Club Club in the ongoing group shows Domestic Evil II and III; in her solo show Toxic Vice at A+E Studios; at Tom Sachs’s Bodega at the Brooklyn Museum; Palma, Palmiers, Palm at Dickinson Roundell in New York; Dicks at Fortnight Institute; and Domestic Evil at Dickinson Roundell, New York. Her works are also featured in numerous private art collections, including the Great Meadows Foundation.
